We were in Orlando last Christmas, the weather was nice but by no means hot. Also you don't get the rain like you do in the summer months. All the main parks are open, although the hours are slightly shorter, I think.

We did see some of the stores with January sales, especially the major department stores, like Sears, J C Penny and Dillards.

    Have a wonderful time!

We have been for the last 2 Christmas's and you can see the locals with their gloves and scarfs on in the parks, you can tell the brits at a glance, they are the ones in shorts.
Its no where as hot as in summer but it is hot enough without the humidity of the summer.
You will need a jumper for the evening as it can go a little chill after dark.
As for the sale they do have a sale, but the big sales are generally around Thanksgiving.

Thats a true statement about being able to tell the Brits!

Whilst we were there last Christmas we watched the workmen on our development buiding the houses with their coats, gloves and hats on, while we sat by our pool in our shorts! It was quite funny.

we were sunabthing around our pool last christmas and the builders had their fleeces on!

Great time to go as the decorations are amazing I have to say. The weather is a bit hit and miss - we have been and it rained non stop for 3 weeks, one day it can be 70 degrees and the next 30 degrees, take a variety of clothing with you and you will be fine!

New Year is a great time of year to go to Florida as the weather is nicer than here (cooler than summer but with little rain ) and if you're staying in a villa, you'll see the residents houses fully decorated so you get a real atmosphere of Christmas. The parks will be busy though as it's holiday season for everyone.

As for New Years Eve, we went to Epcot one year and they shut the doors mid-morning as they had reached full capacity! Other years we went to Old Town Kissimmee which is free and has a great atmosphere (they used to have live music, there's good bars etc. etc.). Not sure what Pleasure Island will be like as they celebrate New Years Eve every night!?
