Thread: Best Route out of MCO

  1. #31
I am staying on Hampton Lakes in October. How long would it take to drive to HL from MCO via the 417 and Champions Gate. My flight arrives at 16.40 on a Saturday. Thankyou

It would depend a lot on the traffic. If the flight arrives on time, it will be still rush hour by the time you complete the formalities at the airport and start out. I would allow about an hour; usually, it is less than that if the traffic flow is steady and there are no hold-ups. Also, you may be tired after a long flight. There were some roadworks on the SR417 near the Landstar exits, but I expect they would be finished by now.

I agree with Nostromo, the traffic could be heavy but most of all you'll be adjusting to lots of things so just take it steady. I mostly stay in the slow lane a follow the driver in front, about an hour would be right.

Probably not as much as on a weekday, but there does appear to be a lot of traffic going South on SR417 even on a Saturday. This may reflect a lot of flights arriving at MCO in the late afternoon. Moreover, new arrivals from the UK will be tired after a long flight and will be taking it easy anyway.
