Surprisingly enough Thomas Cook seem quite good at the moment. Yesterday £1-77 tourist rate and a guarantee to better M and S.
I bought 500 euros at just over 1-45 to pound.

Marks & Spencer rate today is $1.783 its the same whether your buying currency or Travellers cheques, you'll find that hard to beat on the High Street. If you have an M&S credit card you can pay for your currency with this & they don't charge you anything, so that means you could have up to 5weeks before you even pay for your money. They offer free registered delivery on orders of £500.00 or more. all in all I think they offer a great service and its completely free. I think it takes some beating![]()

I agree Bernie. I always get currency from M&S now. [:I]
Hi Dave,
I always find the Post Office and my bank (LloydsTSB) to be the best for me. Yesterday Lloyds were $1.77 - $1.78 depending on whether cash or t/ cheques.Post office was within a fraction of a cent of this. Only prob. with bank is you usually have to order for collection in a couple of days. With PO you can normally just walk in and get money straight away. Travel agents rates never seem as good and can be affected by commission.
Best Wishes KevinT.

A friend of ours works for Travelex and she tells us to get it from their website, its commision free, and todays rate is $1.78 for both cash and T/C's.
Rosie
Travelex is commision free but as you have to use a debit/credit card you will be hit for any transaction charges your bank applies to "cash advance" transactions. Nationwide apparently either don't charge or have a smaller charge than most others for this, there are several mentions of it in other posts. When I worked out ours for April it ended up slightly better overall paying cash and getting it at the Post Ofice.
Jeff
It really depends on what is easiest for you. Current rates as of today:-
Post Office - 1.7692
Travelex - 1.783
Halifax - 1.78
The on line rate for the Post Office is usually different to the one they give you over the counter![]()

I transfered GBP to USD through my Citibank accounts online on Friday at 1.82, and I can send USD cheques from the account to my US account to keep that topped up.
