I'll just add my two penneth worth, my parents moved over to Spain, my father having paid the highest rate of tax more or less all his working life (army officer). They came back after a couple of years - yes having still been paying tax at high rates etc. and for first 6 months were not entitled to any treatment on the NHS - this was 11 years ago. But he did have his quadruple bypass on the NHS as was determined not to have it in a Spanish hospital!

    BTW - Blottie is a lady[^].

Is anything in life fair? One thing we can all be sure of, taxes and death - they tax you til you die, and then they tax you again. OK so why aren't we all off to Italy where there is no inheritance tax!
