Taking UK Tea Bags to the US

My wife is very fastidious about her cup of tea and likes to take a handful of Tetley tea bags on holidays. She thinks that the tea one gets in the US is cr**. Not being a tea drinker, I cannot comment. But the Americans have strict rules about not allowing 'foodstuffs' and I wondered if it would be a problem if we took a SEALED packet of Tetley tea bags with us for our forthcoming 3-week visit?

Normally, teabags are OK but if you read this thread http://www.orlando-guide.info/forums...?TOPIC_ID=6257 and are going via Philadelphia, be prepared for them to 'disappear'!

    Nostromo,
My wife also loves her tea, and so a large bag of teabags is carried in our case, we have never had a problem, and the case has been searched by the Food & Agricultural officers on more than one occasion. You can also buy English Teabags at 'Publix' in the ethnic food section, but be warned they were expensive. I like you, do not drink tea, I'll settle for coffee, but the american stuff could be better!

Could this be the first case of a sniffer dog with yearnings for a proppa cuppa?
