I don't want to put a dampner our your plans but I have the following in my terms and conditions and would think many owners have the same also.

'The person, who signs the terms and conditions certifies that he or she is authorised to agree to those conditions on behalf of all persons included on the booking form, including those substituted or added at a later date. The signatory must be a member of the party occupying the property and must be aged 21 years or older. Bookings cannot be accepted from parties of young people less than 21 years of age'.

If you go a for a villa then you will probably need a car. Weigh up the cost of hotel and no car versus villa plus car.

Hi all! I really do not know how I missed this reply. [msnoo]

So is it true to say that you must be 21 to rent a villa? [msnscared]

    Regards,
    Andy

Not always, some owners will rent to under 21's however they will usually require a larger security deposit

Well you may find an owner who will rent to you on the deposit of a bigger security than usual and/or the signature of an adult willing to stand guarantor for you .What with this and the extra cost of car hire to under 21's it may in all honesty be better for you to stay in a hotel with transport laid on .Sorry[msnsad]

    Problem solved I think!

My friend who will be coming will be 21 years old so he wil be able to sign the guarantor form.

So is that everything covered then? Am I missing anything?

    Kind Regards,
    Andy

September is usually a good time to go but weatherwise October is even better - less hot and less chance of rain.

You can probably get away without a car, but having one helps enormously. First off, with a car you have the freedom of going where you want when you want. Also, we found that there were last minute minor schedule changes and spur of the moment decisions to get this or that - all of which were no problem because of the car.

We stayed in hotels on 4 previous visits, but this time chose a villa because there were 7 of us and it would be more cost-effective. What a difference for the better! You can get up when it suits you, have breakfast to your convenience, have your own pool to relax, not worry about the domestic person knocking on the door at 11am to make up the room etc. We liked this convenience so much that in future, we agreed to stay in a villa even if we were a smaller party and it was not cost-effective. The villas near Orlando have this "Home away from home" feeling, which is great.

I think with any pary of 4 and above, a villa will be cost effective anyway. This site is the best to get villas and a lot of owners are Brits and will give sound advice. Also, since most villas are in the US27/US192 area, you need the car to get about.

USA is a big place; Florida alone has an area approximately same as England and the attractions are far apart. Although many I-Drive Hotels are placed so as to be convenient to WDW as well as non-Disney attractions, you invariably have to travel several miles to get 'there'. A car will thus be useful.

A Car can also save money. Fuel in the USA is costs less than a third of what it does in the UK, while taxis are almost as expensive as here. Public transport, though perhaps better than elsewhere in the USA, is still few and far between, leading often to wasted time is a packed schedule.

My work colleagues have just returned form a family trip and stayed in a villa for the first time as they usually stay in a hotel.

In their words, "a villa wins hands down everytime!".
    They mentioned that all the extras made a difference to their trip;
    • a utility area - they washed their clothes before they returned home
    • stocked up the large fridge with good value foods from the supermarket - the kids helped themselves to drinks all day
    • a private pool, not shared by other guests
    • a TV, with VCR & DVD in every room so they could watch different things
    • in a hotel they had to all retire to bed at the same time
    • they didn't have to 'escape' the hotel room by going out every day - they could 'chill' around the villa
    • IT WORKED OUT MUCH CHEAPER!

    They're another villa convert.
