    FOOTWEAR FOR THE PARKS

    [msntongue]
We will be going to Orlando in July 4 3 weeks, 2 adults and 2 children
9 & 7 years, Just wondering what is the most comfortable footwear
for the parks, I take it from these forums that we will do a lot
of walking and don't want blisters, etc. Are runners ok or would
    they be too warm Etc.
    Regards Anna[msnsmile2]

I find trainers too hot and prefer to wear sandals with a strap round the back (in case I lose them on a ride)

I wear soft canvas shoes, not as heavy, but comfortable and more secure.

The only thing I would wear now is trainers as I find my feet hurt too much wearing sandals all day.Remember to take them off though before any of the water rides, especially in Islands of adventure where from experience nothing you have on will be dry afterwards and squelching all day isnt fun [)] I rode Kraken wearing sandals with straps but spent the whole ride with my toes tightly gripping my shoes as I was convinced they were going left when I was going right so I would advise if wearing sandals or flip flops to take them off and leave them in a locker (or with a non-rider) on any of the large coasters.

I have to disagree on some of the replies as an experienced rambler. Trainers and especially flip-flops are NOT the answer and on our recent trip, those in my party who did not listen to my advice suffered for it. Flip flops do not give your feet the support they need during long walks, which may be in excess of 2 miles in a large theme park on any given day. Ideal footwear is a pair of Gore-Tex lined walking shoes or boots - yes even in summer. Gore-Tex tends to breathe and your feet do not get hot; leather moulds itself to your feet as they swell after walking, which trainer fabric does not do. Modern walking footwear are amazingly lightweight and comfortable for their size. You do not have to go for top of the range stuff, but you can get a good pair for around £60 which will last you years and can be used repeatedly on your trips to Orlando or elsewhere. Moreiver the soles are made for long walking and are exeedingly comfortable. Believe me, I know what I am talking about. I wore by Merrels on every Park visit for 3 weeks and that was the best decision I made. Even at the end of the day my feet felt fine.

Iwear what I wear all year round (yes even in the winter) and that is an open toed wedge soled sandal type thing. Can't really think of any other way to describe them but they cost £4 a pair from either Matalan or Primark and IMHO are the most comfy shoes I've ever come across (not to mention the cheapest)

At the end of the day it is whatever works for you. I tend to wear a good pair of sandals, Timberland/Rockport/Nike/Reebok/Merrel/Reef, which I think are ideal. They give my feet enough support, keep my feet cool, it does not matter if they get wet as they dry very quickly and there is no danger of them comming off during a ride. On holidays to hot places I very rarely have anything else on my feet no matter how much walking I am going to do

I would suggest GOOD sandals with straps in order to secure them to your feet for the rides. Sneakers or Trainers are way to hot for me.

We used our TEVA sandals that worked out great!

I would never wear flip flops as you have to work to keep them on, no support and your apt to loose them on a ride.
