A good tip for Jessops (which is where I bought mine) is that they will price match, but they don't advertise it.

I went in, tried everything and asked all my questions, then did my search on the web. I went back to Jessops with the best price I could find and said that I wanted to buy from them (because of all the help and advice), but that obviously I couldn't pay OTT for the camera. They called the other shop to check the price was genuine and matched it (£110 off) on the spot!

Do you know if Jessops will pricematch an internet price?

I think if you ask they might do, or you can always do what I do and ask if they want to make
a sale or not, when it comes down to them making commission or losing a sale it normally works

Yes they do, or at least will try to.

Obviously if the internet price is ridiculously low, they may just offer a generous discount instead of actually matching the price.

just back from Jessops and they pricematched an internet price of £319 for a canon mv700i camcorder, a bargain!!

Now all i need to do is work out how to use it!!

I take it you need to get a special software package to download it onto the PC? Can you recommend one? Can you download any free from the Internet?

To download to your PC it will need to have either a Firewire port (IEEE1394) or USB port for digital to digital connection (best quality). The Firewire port is the best option as it gives faster transfer rates and offers control of the camera via the software package.

If you have WIndows XP there is a built in basic movie creation package called "Windows Movie Maker" it's in the Accessories program group. If it's not there then you'll need to install it from the Windows XP CDRom. This will get you started.

Your camcorder would probably have come with a copy of either ULead Video Studio 7 or Pinnacle Studio 8, both are more advanced than the Windows package but both are also somewhat bug ridden!.

This is my first post in any of the forums! Have been lurking for a while and just registered tonight. Will be looking for best place to ask my questions soon. We fly to orlando for our first visit on 19 August for 2 weeks. Can't wait

Camcorders: after MUCH searching and comparing and magazines and websites and forums I stumped up £399 for the Canon MV750i back in April this year. Got it from Pixmania - no problems at all. Also got addditional battery - 4 hour life. Brilliant piece of kit - love it - especially the x22 optical zoom (forget digital zoom, next to useless). Difficult to beat the canon on price or performance.

    Current price is £377 - http://www.pixmania.com/uk/uk/39998/...dv_mv750i.html

    Hope this is helpful.
