Can anybody give me any pointers on good camcorders and where to buy them, I am looking to spend around £350 and I would like to buy it before I leave for Florida in July, that way I can 'play around with it'.
Thanks in advance.

A good idea is to go to somewhere like Jessops and ask their experts what they recommend based on what you want to do with the camcorder (leave your price out of the conversation).
You can then find the recommended models through Google and see whether they fit into your price range.
You'll actually find that some UK prices are now cheaper than the US.

A good tip for Jessops (which is where I bought mine) is that they will price match, but they don't advertise it.
I went in, tried everything and asked all my questions, then did my search on the web. I went back to Jessops with the best price I could find and said that I wanted to buy from them (because of all the help and advice), but that obviously I couldn't pay OTT for the camera. They called the other shop to check the price was genuine and matched it (£110 off) on the spot!
Best buy at the moment is the new JVC GR-D23 at around £270, add a bigger battery (1700 to 3500mAh - buy off Ebay as it's much cheaper!) a UV lens filter/protector and a bag and you've got a nice bit of kit for under your budget
Cheapest places I've found for it are,

http://www.nomatica.com/index.asp?De...eo/gaJVCEN.htm
or the very small JVC GR-DX25

Have you tried on line at the following:
[u]www.bestcameras.co.uk</u>
My brother and I have both purchased digital cameras through them. They provide an excellent service, goods arrived within 3 days (free postage)and we both saved approx £150 each compared to high street prices.

Don,
I'd also check out the Canon MV range. 600 - 750 models. They have excellent reports and are compact and easy to use.
Gary
I agree the Cannon range is the best on the market at the moment, and the prices are cheaper
in the uk than florida at the moment

Thanks guys, I bought a Canon A80 camera from bestcameras a couple of months ago and yes they are good. I was having a wee look at Canon's MV range and I liked the look of them as well. I've read a few good reviews but I also like to hear from the people that actually use them.
The funny thing is, while I was looking for my Digi-cam I was looking at the camcorders as well, with all the expense of Florida and then buying the camera I thought it prudent not to mention getting a camcorder....then last week, my wife, god love her, asks "do you think we should get a camcorder"?....nearly chocked on my coffee so I did...I mean...what would YOU say?
