    lap top!!

we were wondering if we need to take special adaptors with us as we are taking a lap top for the journey and to download photographs and it will need to be charged. We are staying in a villa.

You should be fine as laptops usually have dual voltage. You will however need a US plug. We have made up a small extentention type lead with a 3 pin socket on one end and a 2 pin plug on the other. I can then us this for all our electrical items, as long as they are dual voltage.

Remember to take your modem wire with you as a lot of pones in the US have a socket ofr you to plug in.Or get yourself a wireless network card as a lot of places are offering access.
Around the lake at Celebration on the rocking chairs you can get wireless acess as in a lot of the New Malls, that way you can still ask questions on this forum whilst you are there.

If you're going to take you're modem cable with you make sure that you have one with a US end on it(it looks like the end you plug into your modem) otherwise it won't fit the telephone socket... plus if you're on a restricted line ( ie local calls only 'cos its someone elses villa) you'll need to sign up with somebody like access4free to be able to get online

A slight change of topic but sorry to sound stupid, but at home we connect to the internet via NTL, when away would I not need software to connect to another supplier, how does it work.
