We went to Disneyland and California adventure last June, and we've been to all the Disney parks in Orlando many times. We thoroughly enjoyed both California parks. Disneyland has the Matterhorn, a wonderful ride not available in Orlando. It is a fast roller coaster that is partially inside and partially outside of a snow covered mountain, and it is cold and somewhat dark inside. Otherwise the layout of the park is very similar to Disneyworld. CA Adventure is a nice and very different park, completely different rides and concept than any other park in Orlando or CA. It is not as crowded as the other parks. We liked it very much.
One good thing about the CA parks is the weather. You can visit them in summer without the intense heat and sun of Florida. It is sunny usually in southern CA, but on th ewhole it is dryer climate and not humid, much more pleasant than Florida in summer.
We had no issues w/the staff or other visitors in the CA parks.

Regarding the comment in the previous post about the Chinese visitors, personally I find that the diversity of the visitors from different countries is a positive point about any park. Certainly you have run into Asian visitors in Orlando, so I don't understand the comment about that being a negative in CA.

I am an Asian and have been to Orlando 4 times before and once to Disneyland CA. I'm afraid our experience was anything but positive on the racial front, although everything else was fine. In that respect, we found California rather better than Florida. Things may seem fine when you are going around the Parks, but the situation is palpably different in places like the Grand Floridian resort or some of the upmarket shops in Winter Park. On more than a few occasions my wife and I have been victims of 'passive' racism in and around Orlando, but having experienced the same thing for years in the UK, we have learned to ignore it and go along with our business (or pleasure as the case may be).

Someone needs to explain the concept of Mickey Magic to Disney Paris. It simply does not exist there. Even the characters look miserable! The worst thing is the arrogance which comes across, and as already mentioned the refusal to speak English (even though I try my best to speak French when I can!) The very worst thing - Star Tours! It's hard enough to understand the overexcited robot in English, but when it was robot garbled french.........

Gotta put perspective in here tho, I'd rather go there than Flamingoland!

Forgot to mention previously, the one thing that annoyed me in Paris was that the Haunted Mansion narration was in French and I couldn't really understand what was being saidand had to try and guage the story from the surroundings.

However, enjoyed it when I first saw it in Orlando and could finally understand what it was all aboutand enjoyed it even better when I saw the recent Movie with Eddie Murphy.

One of my favourites things to go see I have to say

I too would find the cultural diversity an absolutely positive thing and cannot understand anyone who says anything different.

    Hi

I have been 3 times to orlando WDW and have thought it was excellent.

We have also been to Disneyland Paris twice and have only had good experiences, we were with our then 3 Year Old and 10 month old. thought the parades were brilliant and we also caught the night parade which we had'nt seen before that was really good. This was in mid December very very cold but had a great time. Food in the Rain Forest Cafe was Good.

I think it is all down to peoples expectations and experiences at the time of visits.

I am not saying anything different and in fact would agree with you wholeheartedly. But sadly, reality is very different from wishful thinking and having experienced racio-cultural discrimination in various froms over the last 20 years, I know how it feels. Orlando is fine for a holiday, but there are places we would never go for all the money in the world. Our only visit to Grand Floridian was an absolute disaster and ended in a lot of mud-slinging complaints of the kind that most of us could do without.

I was very disappointed with Disneyland Paris and would only go back there if I could not go to Florida

Someone calculated that a 2 week holiday in Orlando for a family of 4 could be cheaper than an equivalent one in Disneyland Paris. But it beats me what anyone would want to do for 2 weeks in DP.. [][]

We used to look at the cost of a 4 day weekend break to SP, but for the same price we used to
manage to get a last minute 2 week holiday in Spain, so DP lost out all the time, and from what
friends have told me about it, and from some contacts in Disney we made the right choice
