We always book our seats we usually fly either Delta or United Airlines, do not have to pay any extra to reserve seats. Not sure about Charter Flights though

Hi Michelle
Thanks for your response. Continental is a scheduled flight so hopefully we won't be charged. I'll give them a call anyway and hopefuly it shouldn't be too expensive if we have to pay.

Ann-Marie,
No, it didn't cost us anything to pre-book our seats.

With most scheduled airlines, if you join their airmiles program, normally at no cost, it gives access to their online seat allocation.
We've done this with Delta + BA, as Sarah does like to keep close attention on whats passing bye.
As said above, I would mention at check-in or contact the company now, I have done that
whenever we have had a connection and they have always sat us as near to the door as they
can.

Ann-Marie, you don't say but are you flying with Continental on both legs? As they should be able to advise you of the time required to make the connection.
Sarah
Bear in mind too that you have to clear all checked baggage at your first point of arrival into the US now. Who knows, if you plead nicely you may get an upgrade and be off the plane faster![]()

Also on he return leg if your bag is checked all the way through back to Edinburgh with only a 45 minute turnround just be aware that your bags may not make the connection - not such a problem on the way home though they just turn up later in a taxi to your door!!
I guess the other thing to remember is that now when you go through Immigration anyone in front of you who is not travelling on the Visa Waiver form must have their photo taken and finger prints from both hands. When I flew from Mexico to LA earlier this year it took 45 minutes to get through Immigration, as must of those in front had to be photoed and finger printed. [msnscared]
