Try the two Old Town scarers

The two scariest attractions in Orlando are not in any major theme park but in the Old Town entertainment area. They are SKY COASTER and THE SLINGSHOT. The former is effectively a Bungee Jump with a harness from over 300 feet - either solo or with 1 or 2 partners. When one is hoisted up to the top of the pole, it seems more like 3000 feet and takes some nerve to release the cord yourself and free fall. But I did it, as did my sis-in-law, thus relieving me of $50.

After the Sky Coaster, I felt that I was brave enough to try anything and had a go at The Slingshot. This is even scarier. You are strapped into a chair like one on a big rollercoaster, but with spring loaded cables attached to either side. The ride starts at ground level, but when the handler releases the catch (or whatever), you are catapulted over nearly 400 feet into the air in a sitting position. At the summit, the chair flips over so that you hurtle towards the ground face down and still strapped and unable to protect yourself! You stop within a few feet of the ground before being jerked back again. This is by far the scariest experience of my life.

My daughter and I did 'Slingshot' last summer. What a rush!! We screamed the whole time. When we got pulled back to ground level we decided to stay on and do it again!! We bought the video aswell. This is making me smile just thinking about it

I'm curious if you wern't strapped how would you have protected yourself?[msnscared] hats off to you (especially those baseball caps in Alien) I don't think I could do it.

Well, I could not have really. It is a psychological thing. One instinctively crosses arms across oneself in a (in this case futile) gesture of protection while falling.
I did not think I could do it either, but I was emboldened after riding the Sky Coaster earlier and a Budweiser.

I too am a complete coaster freak, but there is no-way on this earth that you would get me on either of those things.

I was in a theme park just outside of Toronto a couple of years ago and they had one of those skydive things which I stood and watched mesmorized for nearly an hour.

    Noway, hell no.
