Hmmm, now there's a headline that puts the fear of god in to you.
However, its not as bad as it sounds:
'Disney is bringing self destructing DVD's to Florida. Called EZ-D DVDs, the disc has a chemical coating which reacts with the air once it is exposed. This makes the disc unplayable after 48 hours. These discs are priced at $5.99 for the Florida launch during April. The discs will be sold by 7-eleven and Papa John's. The price makes them accessible to guests in vacatioin rental homes who may want to hire a movie without the hassle of retuning the disc afterwards. It also prevents any late return fees if you have a video rental account. This is part of an expansion of the trial rather than a national roll out, so sale locations may be limited.'
So, if you want to rent a movie without the hassle of returns, pop into your local 7-eleven
