The advert is very clever they say 'we will TRY to open another till' not hard enough in my opinion.

Have to start using Asda it might feel like Wal Mart (I don't think)

Tesco supermarket has the biggest advertising over here but their biggest stores don't compare in size to the Walmart on 192.

Does anyone know how big the new Walmart on the 27 is going to be and when it actually opens?

Went to a newish ASDA hypermarket at Gateshead hoping that it would feel like Walmart after all the publicity about the takeover had died down. Very disappointing. Nothing like its US counterpart.I was hoping that they would have started to bring some of the WalMart range of goods into the UK, but alas! No. Compared to Walmart - Poor range of goods, unhelpful staff(when you could find one)Nothing like the size of the aircraft hangers in the US. It always amazes me how you go into the Walmarts in FL and can't see the far corner clearly! It looks like two miles away! No "meeters and greeters" in Asda and you have to pack your own goods.
no " Have a great day" from the checkout girl.
So - no change there then!! We live in hope. Perhaps Walmart think the British public are not ready for the culture shock yet?

Well Kevin our Asda's here are the opposite. There are always greeters at the door and the staff are very helpful. Have even noticed how they are now packing your bags for you, although I usually prefer to do it myself.

Although they pack your bags in Florida, they only put a couple of lumps of cheese in one bag. I'm always packing them to the brim, so I don't need so much bags. [msnsmile2]

    Hi Arlene,
Must have just tried a poor branch then! Or perhaps I just got too excited and had my hopes dashed.
I know what everyone means about the one/or couple of items per bag. The first time I came across this was in Publix. I finished up with a boot (sorry trunk!!) full of bags.

(If cars have trunks in US do elephants have boots??)

I agree with the excessive amount of carrier bags. When we arrive in Florida we have no carrier bags and when we leave we must have 100's which I loath leaving (but do) cos at home i use carrier bags for rubbish as I always tend to run out at home and the amount I leave in Florida would last me for a long time. We do tend to use the carrier bags in Florida as rubbish bins.
