As Blott has already mentioned. Try the link at the top of the page. We have just used it to pre-register flights for June/July 2005 and have been quoted excellent prices (there are 6 of us)

When is it when the airlines start with the new prices for summer flights is it january?

The summer season and schedules starts the weekend that the clocks go forward - so this year it was last weekend - and the winter schedules start the weekend the clocks go back in October.
Do you want to go scheduled or charter from Manchester?

You need to check with individual airlines. The 330 rule is correct - you can ask airlines when they intend to release their seats - we found Virgin and BA the best at this ( for all US flights - well where they fly too)

The only way to book further in advance is if you book a fly drive thru say Virgin holidays or BA holidays etc.
If you looking to do it separatly then as has been said above you are going to have to wait until the airlines release their seats. And then that doesn't mean you will get them at the cheapest fare.
I always book a flydrive unless I'm using miles just so I know I can get what I want and know what I'm wanting to pay.
I'm sure the others will agree with this too.

Flydrives normally involve a 'free' rental car which, when you add up the tax and insurance supplements, can add up to more than renting a car and paying for it yourself.

I completely agree with Blott (above). We have previously booked fly drives and the insurance is always astronomical! I have always found it cheaper to book separetly, unless you are going for a last minute flight which is really cheap.
I usually book a fly drive because they are cheaper than flights if you are going on a charter, but do not pick up the "free" car and book a car seperately with Holiday Autos.
This usually works out cheaper.
This year i shall be picking up my "free" car as i have an upgraded car hire by booking premium seats and have prepaid all of the insurances which on this occassion has worked out cheaper than booking a seperate car with holiday Autos.
Swings and roundabouts really.
I agree that booking separatly you can pick up some better deals than doing the package thing.
However, my point was booking way in advance to get the seats on the dates that you want.
As I always plan my trips well over a year in advance (due to getting my required holiday dates in with work), I always go for the flydrive option (plus when upgrading the flight its definitly cheaper than buying direct, and also I get a 25% discount through work
)
