Fireworks or Car Cruising?

<span style='font-family:Arial'></span id='Arial'>My son will be 11 when we are out in mid May. His birthday falls on a Saturday. Plan to go to Epcot in the day (his choice)but what about evening? Car cruising sounds great but fireworks also sound fab!!!What about eating - anything unusual/cool but not budget breaking? Any opinions/ideas welcomed!

Why not stay at Epcot, have a meal there and watch the fireworks from the side of the lake

When you say car cruising I assume you mean the Old TOwn car cruise at Old Town on 192, they also hold this on a Friday so you could get both in. The Cruise is a walk round display of collector cars and is free. Personally I'd say go for the fireworks or if you wanted there is nothing to stop you going to Epcot till late afternoon, go out have a swim, maybe a meal round the Old Town area, catch the cruise and then go back to Epcot in time for the fireworks.

I suppose its down to whether your son is into classic American cars. They do have a lot of hot-rods with huge engines and neons, so if you and he like cars, its a must.

Personally, I prefer the fireworks in EPCOT. I've never seen a show like it and its by far the best of the Disney displays (I've not seen Wishes in MK yet).

Like Steph, I'd try to include them both if at all possible. In mid May, you should still be able to get a good view of the fireworks, even if you arrive near their start.

About what time does the cars start arriving and the cruise start? We went a few years ago - had problems parking - ended up a long way away and missed most of it - and is it the same time Fri & Sat?

Thanks for advice - where's best place to eat at Epcot in evening? Can i book from UK? Where's best spot to view Epcot fireworks?

I'm pretty sure they start at 8-30pm and the Epcot fireworks at 9pm-so I think you would struggle to do both on one night.

Unless the fireworks are later-but even at 10pm-it would still be a rush. You would need to allow at least an hour for the cars-parking-and getting back through the crowds-as it gets very busy.

Then into the car, to Epcot, park and quite a walk to the lake for the fireworks -I honestly think you would struggle.

I didn't know the car cruise also takes place on a Friday too-it's really good well worth seeing-even if you're not a big car enthusiast-and it's free!

There is some distinction between the cruise on a Friday and Saturday Orlandobabe but being as my interest in cars is zilch I can't remember what it is, may be to do with the age of car or one night has more trucks.
