    What to pack??

Has anyone got any tips on useful things to take with you to Florida?
Someone posted on another thread that its a good idea to take bin bags- which can be used to cover a seat after a bit of rain...
I liked that idea and wondered what else people take that they find useful... thats apart from the usual suncream and caps .....[msnsmile]

    An oldie but goodie http://www.orlando-guide.info/forums...p?topic_id=459

We don't take that much actually as most things are available cheaper in the US and, if you're staying in a Florida home, there's that huge washer and dryer!

You might like to take some machine wash powder or tablets (not the liquitabs as they may melt!), some dishwasher tablets, etc. Pack these in plastic carrier bags in case they leak or get wet en route.

If you're fussy about tea, then some teabags and ditto instant coffee if you like that (you'll find the same brand names in Florida but totally different tasting contents in the jars!).

As per a recent thread, some talcum powder to get rid of wet sand, more of your regular medication than you're likely to need (in case you get delayed or it gets lost or damaged), a printed list of your medication (the one you get from the GP for repeat prescriptions will do fine). You should find a 1st aid kit in your rental home (it's required for licensing) but take some plasters as these are expensive in Florida.

In view of your recent experiences, then some antihistamines from your GP.

A few binsacks are a good idea (as you've mentioned), a folding umbrella, sunglasses (these are quite expensive in Florida as is swimwear), some old T-shirts for kids to wear in the pool, small binoculars if you're into wildlife but, most of all, very comfortable shoes!

My mother always has to bring a note from her Doctor naming the drugs she needs for customs......I don't know if its something you have to do.......or maybe it because she brings so many......

Bounce tumble dry sheets, (spread between the layers of clothes in your cases)to keep your clean washing fresh on departure and return.

I found a florecent pair of orange tights that belong to my daughter last night. I asked her if i could take them to florida with me. She then proceeded to look at me in a wierd kind of way and asked "why do you want to take them mum". i replied "so i can tie them to the arial on the car,so we can see where our car is in the car parks".

See any tights you know its our car[msnwink]

One thing we always take are a couple of 'dry bags' for the cameras to guard against the sudden, unexpected showers. In Florida, one almost always has a camera out and with the digital ones you have to be especially careful not to get them wet.

Otherwise, the usual sunglases, straw hat, sun cream, cotton clothes etc. One area to concentrate a bit more is footwear. With all that walking to do, you need a pair of USED stout walking shoes.

A waist purse is a good idea rather than a conventional wallet for obvious reasons.

A light windbreaker jacket is a good idea, even in summer, if you are going to the dinner shows. Some of them, eg Arabian Nights, are kept cool for the animals and you will be uncomfortable in a T-shirt.

Have to agree with Nostromo a good waist bag is a must we have used the same one for years and its big enough to get our keys money tickets and passports in saves lugging round a bag and you don`t have to take it off when you go on a ride, Keith always carries it (it fits under his belly nicely and with proper cramming you can fit a few extras in
