    mosquitos in August

Is there a problem with mosquitos in August? Can anyone recommend a really effective repellent?

Yes and bigtime!! Go to a camping shop and get the jungle formula one. I get bitten and they then swell up like a ball and I live here!!! I have never found the chemists type much good.

I've never seen a mosquito in Florida yet in at least ten years, going twice a year! I normally get eaten alive in Europe so where do they all lurk (not that I'm wanting to find any!)?

Mmmmmm, two completely conflicting replies!! Perhaps it depends which parts of Orlando one visits......

Believe Julie as she lives there now but I honestly haven't seen any, let alone get bitten, but perhaps I've just been lucky! [msnsmile2]

There's a whole long thread about repellants somewhere...

    Ah, I've found one http://www.orlando-guide.info/forums...?TOPIC_ID=1358

Thanks, I'll have a look for that thread. I have been to Orlando in June, and didn't see any, but wondered if they were a problem later in the year. I seem to remember hearing somewhere that the area was sprayed by some insecticide, but I may have misunderstood.

Hi Emm, you probably heard correct, the local authority does spray against mosquitoes sometimes, but that is no guarantee against them not being there

    Hi

We once stayed at Marco Island, the house had a private dock and my husband got bitten one evening whilst fishing. Only his legs though? I would just stay away from water in the evening. I have never been bitten and have been visiting florida for 14 years!
