    CLOSING TWO ATTRACTIONS AT UNIVERSAL

There are two attractions closing at Universal Studios , both at the same time. The Fantastic World of Hanna Barbera and Alfred Hitchcock's the making of a movie also closing. Hanna Barbera is being replaced by The Jimmy Neutron ride and Alfred Hitchcock is being replaced by the 10 mintue show featuring Shrek. Both to reopen in spring 2003. Bonnie

How sad that the Hanna Barbera ride is closing. It's a ride we always make a point of going on together as a family. Makes us laugh from start to finish, you know you're not on a real ride, but the bumps and swerves are so effective. End of an era for our family then <img src=icon_smile_sad.gif border=0 align=middle>

I know I am very disappointed we also love Hanna Barbera and who knows maybe we will also love the new ride . Out with the old and in with the new, is not always for the better. We will have to wait till someone trys it out and reports back to us. Bonnie

Well my girls will be sad as it was the first ride they went on at Universal.

I shall be sad to see Hitchcock go as I always enjoyed this - I suppose the youngsters don't know who or what he meant to films in the old days. My mum just adored all his films.

The only advantage to us though is that if they constantly update then guests are more likely to want to repeat their visit than if they find everything exactly the same.

Oh I understand that Steph, just as I understand it is now directed at the young or those that like fast rides!

However, there is such a rich heritage of films that both Universal and MGM could make much of, and would be of interest to those of us who don't just like being thrown all over the place!

I can't place the Hanna Babara ride. What happens on it?
I'm sure at some point we will have done it. Will it still be open the week after next.
I'll make sure to give it a whirl-if it is.

I cant believe this ride is closing! It's actually one of my favourites! I always used to make my family join the rediculously long queue for it!!

Hanna Barbera was a cartoon simulator featuring the Jetsons kid being kidnapped by dick dasterdly from wacky races. It was so clever, and the part afterwards where you can be involved in the cartoon effects etc, was always a hit!

    What a shame.

I haven't heard when it is closing for good, if it to reopen in the Spring 2003 I am sure it will have to be soon. It really is a shame. Our neice and nephew are going with us in Oct and Hanna Barbera was one that I knew they could go on and would enjoy it. Bonnie

Another thing they used to have at Universal which was incredible, was the Miami Vice stunt show. What happened to that?? I thought that maybe I was visiting on day when it was not being shown but apparently it's gone for good??
