    beware the spring breakers!!!!!

just got back from florida and spent two days on the coast in clearwater.
The place was like ibiza uncut very unlike the clearwater we have known on many previous visits.
teenagers everywhere drunk, leery and loud rooms all above $125 a night if you can find one(all hotels booked 15 miles out of clearwater) apparently this continues for the next three weeks on many coastlines across florida (daytona, cocoa, etc)

The parks have been heaving with spring breakers all week but I have to say they have all been well behaved and very polite. Our UK youngsters could learn a lesson or two from them as opposed to the drink culture we usally have to suffer from them [msnsad].

I would agree with John. My son is 18 and all his US school friends are much better behaved ( and dare I aay much soberer) than they were in the UK. There isnt a lager lout culture here as there is in the UK. Teenagers drunk and leery? Everyone here checks ID very strictly, if you even look less than 30. Where would they get the booze??

just got back from business in daytona ...the beach area looked like a scene from ibiza...

but i must agree not like the uk at all.
ive come from having my own pub in the york area to orlando so the main thing you notice is the culture diff straight away...

    dont miss that at all......

I wouldnt even go near Daytona during these times as I have heard of wild parties, crashing windows in the hotel rooms, jumping out of them too!! Thanks to the law of being 21 to buy or even sell liquor helps a lot in the US.

We are going to Florida on 29th April - presumably the Spring Breakers will be gone home by then?............

    Re Spring Breakers

We are planning to visit either Feb,March,April 2005. Will be visiting Daytona in addition to other places!! Have considered more the April dates to miss Easter - but at the risk of sounding really stupid, when does Spring Break usually happen in USA?![msnembarrased]
Obviously it looks like we might need to avoid it in 2005. All advice welcome!![msnsmile2]

spring break this year started last week for some areas and runs for 3 weeks approx due to other areas...

youve also got bike week the first week of march so in real terms march is out unless you want a lively holiday on the east coast ....

now the west coast is totally diff thats the place to go during march....

I was in the Bahamas a couple of years ago during spring break..... Oh My God, it was awful, the hotel and beaches were completely over run and as they don't have the same strict drinking laws....well you can imagine.

I don't think I got one full nights sleep the whole time I was there!!!!!
