    Cruise to Key West

Has anyone tried the cruise from Fort Myers to Key West? Think it takes about 3 1/2 hours and wondered what your views were. I expect it is quite expensive too. I'd also like to know if anyone has done the deep sea fishing trips? Are they ok for amateurs - my son quite fancies his hand at landing something larger than a sardine but doesn't fish very often - and I would go along for the experience

We didn't go ourselves but members of our party have been on the cruise to Key West. They said it is an early start and late arrival back so best if you plan to spend a night or two in Key West (now that I can recommmend.)

Overall they said it was brilliant - you go get food and drinks and it is much more pleasant than spending hours driving down there. They saw lots of dolphins on the way there and then they just watched the sunset on the way home.

It wasn't too expensive when you compared it to the time spent in the car and the petrol costs but I can't remember exactly how much they paid.

Do you know which cruise company operates this route as it sounds great?

So is it just classed as a day cruise then?

I like the sound of it-it sounds a bit different.

Something to do on our 3 weeker when all the work is done-and hubby is all shopped out-lol!

Orlandobabe, I was in Key West last week and saw the catamaran come in. It seemed quite busy so may be wise to book in advance. 3.5 hours is certainly worth it when you consider it took me 4 hours to drive from Miami....and it will be much more relaxing too, US1 South has good views but it is tiring to drive. Try and stay a night or two in Key West, its a fun experieince but again, book in advance, accommodation is expensive and limited......... oh and some places clothing is optional so beware !

Hi - thanks to all of you for the information - reckon I will definitely take the trip and maybe stop overnight in a Howard Johnson or somewhere - its ages since I went to Key West but it does seem a good way to get there
