    best exchange rate

having searched for the best exchange rate before our trip i took advice on looking at marks and spencer they were commission free and 4 cents better to the pound all over town.
It seems like the dollar is now gaining ground three or four days before our trip. just our luck!

I did say on an earlier posting about Marks and Spencer. On the high Street they take some beating.

I went down to M & S today and changed my £'s to $'s, but unfortunately they could only change a max of £500.... i got $880
I'll have to pop down on Sunday (Sat I'm off to Manchester to watch Fulham play) and change another £500 .. but no doubt the exchange rate would have worsened [msnsad]

It sets me wondering when is the best time to get my dollars. Now or will I be better off waiting till nearer the time we go in October? Wish I had a crystal ball!

I bought mine from Marks and Spencers a few weeks ago. I was watching the rate with M&S and it got to $1.811 so I bought a $1000 cost me £552. The following week it went to $1.855, it's gone down to $1.75 now, but I am keeping an eye on it so that I can buy the rest before we go.

Not sure where Sky got their rates from but I have not seen them that high for some days now and I look every day on fxstreet.com. They are currently 1.818 (commercial) so take off about 6 cents for tourist rate. As I have said on previous posts about the exchange rates, if you have a Halifax account you will be hard pushed to beat them.
