    Dollars - buy now?

Just wondered what everyone's views are about the dollar at the moment. I'm going in May and not sure when to buy. It's obviously a very good rate at the moment but am I being greedy to hope it will get even better?!

weree going in May too and i have it from my back that if you hold on the rate WILL hit $2 to the £

my advice is to buy when that rate is reached as it seems the institutions willmove at that rate to protect the dollar.

It's a difficult one to call at the moment, the market seems to still be predicting that the $2.00 mark will be achieved and that the dollar will stay weak until at least the US Elections in November.

The dollar weakened a bit 2 weeks ago, with it reaching almost $1.90 to the £1.00 and that was the Tourist Rate .

Since then it has strenghtend a little with it falling back to around the $1.80 mark.

In short, even at the $1.80 it is still better than we have seen for a few years and lots better then the $1.55 that I got when we were over in September 2003.

I have taken the view that I will buy "little and often", that way if the rate changes I don't beat myself up about it too much.

I can't see it going much over the $2.00 mark, so anywhere between £1.90 and $2.00 seems great value.

Also don't forget that as most of us shop using our credit cards you will only get their rate at the time and generally they will be below the Tourist Exchange Rate.

That said some Cards such as the Nationwide B/ Society don't charge so you get a few cents more from them.

They have gone down almost 3 cents today. Although there is all this talk of it reaching $2 they don't seem to be getting over $1.84.
