    Traffic delays on 192

The new Brit's guide to Orlando mentions that phase ii of the 192 improvements have started and the roadworks between the 535 junction and Hoagland Boulevard will cause major delaysand shoild be avoided
We will be staying at Cumbrian Lakes at Easter and are wondering if these will affect us much especially if the traffic queues right back to Poinciana Boulevard.

    Thanks,
    Yvonne

    Yvonne,
There will be a knock on effect at peak times of the day, but otherwise it won't be that bad. We were around a few years ago when the whole of the 192 from 535 going west towards I4 was a long roadworks and didn't encounter much problems.

This is where the 'new' shortcut will be useful, since you do NOT have to go East beyond Marker #4 on US192. Please be aware that this route is NOT yet shown on any on-line map. Going east on US192, you turn left at Marker #4 into Black Lake Road, but remember then to keep on the left lane and take the newly refurbished 'Black Lake Boulevard' towards Animal Kingdom. (Note: Do NOT follow the part Black Lake Road that winds towards Sherberth Road). This goes straight into Osceola Parkway from where you can go to any part of WDW or meet the I-4 at Exit 65. Tink seems to be one of the few who are aware of this great shortcut and she has extensively used it.

Nostromo, you're completely the wrong end of the 192 here!

Yvonne, from Cumbrian Lakes, you can almost miss out the 192 altogether, particularly on the way to Disney.

You can use the 'back' road from the Old Town Kissimmee archway and go around on the 17/92 and turn right into Poinciana Boulevard. Going from Cumbrian Lakes to use this route, you would turn left out of Cumbrian Lakes (instead of right to the 192), go up to the traffic lights and turn left.

On the way to Disney, either turn right out of Cumbrian Lakes and cross over the 192 and then left on the 417 to Disney. Or, alternatively, if that route is blocked, then turn left out of Cumbrian Lakes, turn right at the traffic lights onto the 17/92 and go through Intercession City and turn right which brings you either onto either the I4 or you can carry on until you reach the Splendid China area (and then follow Nostromo's directions!).

    Thanks , Blott,
We know where the 17/92 is as we have been thinking about using that route from the I4 to get to the villa. We are flying into Tampa.we thought this would be easier than using the 192 on a saturday evening
I have been searching a lot of the older threads on Poinciana Boulevard and have managed to find various shortcuts to lots of different places.
Probably wont stop us getting lost a few times as usual.[msnsmile]

If you're flying into Tampa then the 'back' route through Intercession City from the I4 will be a great shortcut for you.

Getting lost is sometimes part of the fun (you never know what interesting things you might find) but perhaps not when you first arrive after your flight! [msnwink]
