    Cycling in the Kissimee area

    Hello,

I'll be staying in Kissimee on The Avenue of the Stars for a week in April and would like to bring my bike for training rides. Are there suitable areas for riding without too much traffic.

    Advice would be much appreciated,

    Phil

You can ride around Celebration. My son rides and it is the only area I would let him ride. Most roads are not bike friendly. I dont think I have ever seen anyone on a cycle on the main roads. You would need a death wish.

    Thanks Julie,

But what or where is Celebration, and how about surrounding areas?

A friend of mine recently moved down there. He told me there are some hard rides up in the Clermont area with Cat 1-3 and elite level. They have hilly terrain. Your best bet is to call a local bicycle shop and see if they organize any rides.

Also Orlando is the US Triathlete training center. So there is a very high caliber riders in that area.

Celebration is a small town which used to be owned by Disney. Turn off 192 by the Water Tower marked Celebration just before you get to Old Town heading east or just after Old Town if heading west. The speed limit in town is 25 miles per hour making it safe for bike riders.

In that case we'll sure to get a speeding ticket when sprinting at 40 mph []

Yes, I was thinking of some open roads out of towns, and the bike shop or club might have the answer.

    Thanks,

    Philip
