    Alamo or Dollar or Thrifty

Looking for car hire 22/10 for 14 days, intermediate suv, can't believe the difference in price Alamo nearly double the rest of suppliers ! Anyone know if this is normal ? Only ever rented Alamo before so a bit wary of different suppliers.
    Thanks for any thoughts

I’m looking at 01/11 for 14 days and Alamo is also almost double of Dollar and Thrifty.

I think that with Dollar and Thrify whilst the quote is in £s it’s based on the current US price and when you pay the balance it’s whatever the US price quoted equates to in £s at the time you pay the balance whereas the Alamo price quoted is fixed. Whilst the exchange rate may account for a small difference in price I think the main reason for the price difference is the level of insurance cover. It looks like Dollar and Thrifty only give you $300,000 of Liability cover whereas Alamo give you $1,000,000.

Have you tried the link above in the orange header.
Click the ‘Florida car hire’ tab and you get all the different rental agencies to compare against.

I hadn't noticed the difference in liability!
I prefer Alamo as the queue at Orlando is usually shorter and you get to choose which car you want but the difference in price usually means we go for Dollar.

I’d check all SLI as I looked at Alamo for a vehicle in November and it was $300,000. I suspect that they may all be reducing their levels of SLI. For peace of mind you can always take SLI top up insurance to increase liability to $1,000,000 if you wish.

All the major car rental providers (including Alamo) reduced the liability cover to $300k in recent months.
