    Need new satnav

Hi, we are heading to Orlando again 8th Nov this year and although we have a Garmin with US maps on sd card the maps are a bit dated now (2010 I think). Was wondering if anyone has recently bought one out there eg Walmart etc and what price ?

Options are as above or update maps from Garmin or buy second hand gps with us maps from eBay ?

    Thanks in advance Mike

    Hi.

We purchased a Tom Tom a few years ago from Walmart and it included lifetime USA maps. It was only 99 dollars. I dont know if they still do something similar?

However friends have gone with Garmin on their UK phone! They are very pleased with it and it doesn't require 4G to work.

I'm over here now and bought a Tomtom with lifetime updates, traffic and cameras for $100 from Bestbuy. It's not really worth risking second hand to save $20 - $30.

Thanks for the replies , it does make sense buying new over there for $100 or so, especially with lifetime updates as we have used our old Garmin for the lsat 5 times and will be making future trips to the states

Buy a used one from ebay with latest maps for circa £35, then when you come back , sell it....
This is what the sil did last year. Net cost was a little over a fiver.

I have a tomtom with lifetime updates for European maps and bought the US maps as an extra. I have to buy the updates for that as it was only for a year. Have had it 4 years now and the European maps now don't fit on the machine, only on the SD card. Only time the European updates were not up to date was when we went to San Miguel in the Azores, though it was still really useful. Mine also does traffic in the UK but not abroad.
