    Well done Florida Car Hire

We always hire a car from here, lately it has been for just a day either end of our holiday to get us from/to the airport as we have our own car for the rest of our stay. Picked a car up at Sanford yesterday and when Bill went this morning to sort out our own insurance was told we now have to give them 5 days notice of any changes (this is the first we knew of this as it has always be done immediately before) panic, no insurance till Wednesday. Came on here, clicked the link above, hired a car for the next 5 days, logged into my email account and lo and behold the voucher was there, now that's what I call efficient. Would never consider using anyone else.

Just to give another vote to Florida Car Hire. We have used them for years with no fuss or hassle when collecting/dropping off our cars, but for the recent trip the other half wanted a mustang as it was just the two of us and the last couple of times we have rented through Alamo and have checked the convertible options at the airport (when picking up our sensible 7 seater) there have only been Sebrings available.

So we booked a mustang through Budget via another site. The car was fantastic, but Budget were a nightmare. Firstly they tried to add numerous insurance options onto our bill at the desk amounting to over $600, which we managed to get taken off after a verbal fight (OH didn't have his glasses to hand and nearly signed for the additions). Then they told us that a $230 deposit would be taken from our credit card. We argued that we had never had money taken from the card before with other car companies, but they had us over a barrel as they wouldn't let us collect the car without our signature. Then, on returning the car, the guy who eventually came to check over the car handed us a receipt with $38 deducted. He then walked off claiming 'no speak english' and shrugging his shoulders. The queue at Budget was about 20 deep and we didn't have enough time to wait to speak to the counter staff so we are now in the process of trying to get the money refunded back in the UK. We had kept the receipt when we filled the tank on the way to the airport and also a photo of the car display showing 'full' as apparently the charge is for 'fuel' even though the Budget receipt showed a full tank on return.

I'm confident we will eventually get the money refunded (following more correspondence) but going forward we will only book through this site. Lesson learned.

Sorry to hear of your problems with Budget. You may recall we used to offer Budget as an option too, and this is exactly the reason we dropped them. Price-wise they are not bad, but a very high percentage of customers came back with a serious complaint, many of which never got resolved. Most suppliers have the occasional blip, but of all of them, Alamo and National are by far the best, and they come down really hard on staff that try to up-sell at the desk. I personally know one of the senior managers at Alamo so it really helps with any possible booking issues.
