I was looking at some AA flights in May yesterday and all of them offered to chance to select the seats as the final part of the process.
I booked via BA. There are four flights (travelling from Leeds) and the outward LHR to JFK is the only AA flight, the rest are with BA. I can book seats on all but the AA leg. There is some kind of gremlin in the system - when you try to book the seats on the AA leg via BA, it transfers you to the AA site, which then transfers you straight back to the BA one. You get stuck in a never ending loop. When I called AA they said they knew about the problem, so would do it over the phone - except none of the seats (apart from the two in the centre of the middle aisle) were available for booking.
