Our flight was BA too and also with AA all the way home. We flew into PHL at 4:15pm with the flight out to Manchester at 9pm. We were off the plane and sat having a beer within 15 minutes of landing.

You don't need to go through any connections at all, just get off the plane and wait for the next one as you will already have your boarding passes from Tampa.

It was a great route for us, especially the much shorter flight to the UK.

Philly was a breeze, dead easy.

Service on the Gatwick to Tampa flight on the way out was poor though, no kids meals, no veggie meals, rude cabin crew and we were diverted to St Johns Newfoundland as a lady had a heart attack and was took off yet incredibly her family stayed on board which made everyone else on board question how ill she really was,

Also waited 2.5 hours in the queue at AVIS for a car while every other desk seemed like a breeze.
