The only time we did anything like this at Miami we stayed in the onsite hotel at the airport. It's nothing special but the rooms are ok and very quiet. to my mind it saved getting transport to an off site hotel and back to the airport the following morning. In the morning we awoke refreshed and went to collect the car with no problems at all.

That's what we were thinking. But the hotels seems to be north or south so does it matter which you come into?
the one we stayed in is actually inside the airport concourse so it wouldnt matter which terminal you arrive at. If you stay off airport you will need a taxi or shuttle so it really wont matter a huge deal as i would think most are within 10 to 15 min ride.
According to their website the North terminal is used for Latin and Carribean flights so I would guess South, there is loads of info online.
Have you had a good look at your ticket/booking info ? With most airlines it does show the terminal on the itinerary.

Just looked and virgin are listed as arriving at terminal D which is the north.
We have stayed at the hotel onsite and one over at Doral Woods which had a free airport shuttle to and from. When we arrived at the airport we rang the hotel, they picked us up and took us back the following g morning.
