    Luggage transfer at Newark Airport?

We are flying from Birmingham airport to Orlando airport via Newark airport and wondered if anybody could tell us whether you have to collect your baggage at Newark airport and re-check them in to your next flight to Orlando, some people say yes you have to and some people say no you don't, it is very confusing.

We are flying with United airlines on all flights.

Yes you will need to collect your luggage after immigration and clear customs.
The drop off for baggage on to connecting flights is normally just outside the customs hall.
Your bags will be tagged to MCO.

This applies to all first point of entry flts into the U.S.

We just flew with Delta via Boston.

As soon as we left the customs hall there was a desk to book our luggage straight back in.
