Will not effect holiday makers. This is really for those trying to get last minute visas. Most from europe use the visa waiver anyway.

Martin, don't think the Visa Waiver exists now, you need an Esta. No doubt someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

The difference is that you just filled in the Visa Waiver on the flight and it was free now you have to apply and pay for the ESTA in advance and it lasts for two years

We have just renewed our B1/B2 visa and it cost us £211.20 for the two of us. Factor in the cost if a couple of nights in London and it's a costly exercise. We're lucky that we can travel from Edinburgh to London free on the train, if we had to pay the fare it would have cost us a fortune! Grr!

How long did you have to wait for your appointment Andrena? Ours is due soon.

They gave me a date immediately on the phone when I paid. They offered me 25th August but that didn't suit us so we got 2nd September.
It's 11am so that means going down the day before. We decided that we might as well stay another couple of nights and make it a short break.
