    Costco in Orlando

    Hi,

Is there a Costco in the Orlando area?

I have been told they are amazing in the US and that you can use your UK membership there.

We are hoping to stay in The Highlands Reserve [msnsmile] so if anyone can give approx driving time/distance (in miles) I would appreciate it.

There is no rush though as we are only going in October 2005 (I hope) [msncry]

There is a Costco on Orange Blossom Trail.

They certainly accept UK membership, but apart from the obvious brand differences, I was actually more surprised at how similar they are to Costco in the UK in terms of stock and layout !

Not sure on distances from Highlands Reserve, but its about half way up OBT (on the left) if you're heading towards Sand Lake Road.

Note:- Costco us do not take VISA or Mastercard c/cards. (well they didn't last year) , american express, travellers checks and of course the old fashioned means of paying for goods.... cash are accepted.

If your car needs some petrol when you're up that way, they do discount petrol/gas for members too.

As to whether it's worth a visit, it sells much the same sort of things as in the UK but at US prices rather than UK ones, ie cheaper!

You can combine it with a vist to Gatorland or a visit to Florida Mall or Super Target -eat in Cracker Barrel near there-so that you don't feel that you are headed all that way out just for 1 store.

There are similar shops- Sam's Club owned by Walmart I think, on 192, $30 membership. No credit cards. Competitive - petrol also even cheaper than everywhere else in US. There is also a similar store next to Lowe's on John Yong parkway/Florida Greenway - I think its called JB's. Brand new and huge range.
