    Travel insurance Question

My wife has a number of pre existing medical conditions not least a heart attack a year ago. This has made insurance expensive but that is not the problem as I had got an acceptable quote.

The problem now is the she has suffered a persistent cough and some slight nausea. The Dr is convinced both are down to a reaction to the various meds that she is on. Neither are considered serious but she has been referred to 2 specialists for tests.

We are due to travel end of April and although she will be seen by then it is unlikely she will be diagnosed or discharged by then due to the long wait lists. Now the insurance company say she is being investigated for undiagnosed problems and will not offer cover at all.

Does anyone know of an insurance company who would offer cover including the known conditions but not whatever the results of the tests find or can anyone offer advice on what to do.

My wife has had a small heart attack, blood pressure and irregular heart beat and we managed to get cover with AVANTI

It maybe worth requesting the consultant states on her notes that she's fit to fly.

    Regards,

    Mark.

Hi and thanks for the reply. Getting cover for her existing condition is not a problem. The problem now is the insurance companies say she has 2 new as yet undiagnosed conditions which makes it impossible for them to cover her irrespective of what the doctor says he thinks is the situation. where in all probability she does not have any new conditions she has side effects from the conditions already declared.

What I was hoping for was to get cover for her declared conditions and exclude cover for whatever she has been referred for if they turn out to be a different condition.

While in the US she could fall and break a limb or have any number of problems not related to her conditions but none would be covered if we take insurance out and the company refused to pay because they hide behind some form of failure to disclose on our part.

Did you take out the cover before these new conditions were apparent, if so then it is my impression that you should be covered. If they refuse cover then they are liable for your costs of cancellation.

No I have only just started sorting the insurance. I did get an annual quote in Dec but decided to leave it until the new year.

This may sound a little silly but a friend who has medical problems used the British Mountaineering Association.! Anythings worth a look and Saga are usually good. (You don't have to be retired)

Hi vickk we use direct line, they have been good for us in the past, my daughter has quite a lot of medical issues, they have in the past excluded a undiagnosed condition (she was having tests) and still insured her to cover her main problems, I have used them for the last 6 years and always had a competitive quote as well. Good luck
