We started visiting Florida in 1993 and stayed in hotels. In 1999 we rented a villa, that was it for us a villa every time since, hotel rooms are fine for the odd night, but for 2 weeks, however close you are, you will drive each other insane. A villa just gives you so much more space. Disney is wonderful but would you want to spend 2 weeks doing nothing but Disney! A villa and a car will give you so many more options.

Our first trip to Orlando was in 2000, our son was 4yrs old and our daughter 15 yrs old, we really didn’t want to be cooped up in a hotel room so we rented a villa. Wow we were amazed at the size of the place and the facilities, it was great to have our own pool and privacy. This was supposedly a ‘once in a lifetime holiday’, five years later we brought a villa!!

We have done both and now if we are doing Disney Parks we stay in a Disney hotel for 3/4 nights then move to villa and don't go near the Disney Parks again, we have done this with children for the last few years, thus giving us chance to use transport and magic hours, we still have a car then we go off sight for a meal if we want to. We have been going since 1989.

We stayed in a hotel on our first visit. although I found it useful for the bus service into Disney I didn't like how noisy it was. If it wasn't the air con in window it was the people walking by and doors banging.
Next trip we hired a villa with friends and would not do anything else, even when it's only two of us going.
It's so quiet, can sleep when we want and wander around, make cup of tea when you wake up at 4 in morning.
We eat in villa as well, if on a budget take snacks into parks and have something substantial when you return home.
We bought a Crock Pot (slow cooker) for our villa ($15 from Walmart), prepare the food in morning, put on low and it will be ready when you return.
