You need to get a US phone adapter - they are readily available in Dixons or PC World. The end that goes in the phone socket is smaller than in the UK and looks roughly like a RJ45 connection.

Don't forget your US plug adapter too [msnsmile]

You can buy them there thankfully - the JVC Outlet at Buena Vista Outlets has all sorts of adapters - or Staples on the 192 [msnwink]

Hi Chris do you use a bt adaptor to use your laptop in this country if so it is the same as mine, which means you can use your laptop without an adaptor as it will fit the usa ports.

You'll need the RJ11 to RJ11 (similar to RJ45 but a lot smaller) to use it in the USA.
The US phone points are the same size as the modem socket on your laptop.
I signed up to http://www.budgetdialup.com/html/learn.htm to use email/web when I was there last.
20 hours of use in the 12 month period (about £4-5) and a local call to connect (free in most villas/hotels).
Both hotels had phones that had a separate socket in them for data rather than unplug the phone...cool

Actually I just checked, my laptop cable is already RJ11 to RJ11 and I have to put an adaptor on
to connect to my socket here, So I might be ok. If not off to the shops when we get there.

Just need to sign upto a provider

    Hi Chris,

Glad you posted this question, hadn't thought about another adaptor being needed.
