Newbie saying hello and after Gulf Coast advice

Hello there, Im a mum of 2 DD(13) and DS(9). I have been married since 1998 and live in Sheffield, South Yorkshire. We are thinking of heading to somewhere on the gulf coast for Christmas 2015 and would welcome any advice, suggestions. Doesnt have to have lots of things on the doorstep, hubby happy to drive but would like a villa somewhere for the holidays [xmas2]. Thanks in advance. Rachel

Hi Rachel and welcome to the forum.

Owner are not allowed to respond to queries placed on the forum for bookings but will give you lots of advice on the area.

If you want to see what home are available for you then put out an enquiry on the site below. In the main search box you can select the number of bedrooms you want and change the default search area from ORLANDO to GULF COAST.

Owners also write articles about Florida and it attractions. If you click the link below you will be taken to this guide. If you put GULF COAST into the search box then you should see 7 articles.

We go to the gulf coast every year and our favourite is Naples and Marco Island. However you might find it rather quiet with children.

    Welcome

Have you considered Anna Maria Island? Its a beautiful place, great beach and plenty of laid back activities. You can even have breakfast on the main beach on Christmas Day :-)

Another suggestion is Siesta Key. If you find a house to rent around Siesta Key village there are plenty of shops within walking distance and the beach is amazing!

Welcome to the site and you will definitely get all the advice you need, Naples is my favourite place on the Gulf Coast followed by Clear Water.

Good look in planning your trip,

    Regards,

    Mark.

Thank you all for your suggestions. We havent any real preference as to the location. It will be our 4th time in Florida, we have spent a week staying in Cape Coral before and visited Fort Myers, quick stop off in Naples, day at Sanibel and have visited the Everglades. Hubby would like to fly into Miami this time (bit of a aviation anorak and wants to fly some plane !?! lol). Having browsed a lot of the forum and suggestions of days out we are currently swaying towards Rotonda as a base but this still isn't decided. We have spent days in St Petes and Clearwater but I think thats out of our price range. Im happy if theres a cracker barrel nearby lol.

There are also villas on the Gulf Coast advertising on OV and quite a few guides and articles have been written.

    Enjoy your researching.

Personally Sanibel Island is my favourite, however it may be a bit quiet for children, we stayed at Siesta Key last year, had a lovely time, much more going on and close to Sarasota too.
