    Virgin seats

From yesterday (18th Nov 14) Virgin now charge to book your seat on a flight at any time before the 24hr check in period if you are in economy. The charge is £25 for a standard seat and £35 for extra leg room/exit seats.

It's 72 hours if you have flying club membership.
worth signing up for even if you don't use Virgin that much.

Do you mean check in ? We have had flying club membership for years and never been able to check in before 24hrs ! although I have often looked a few hours early to see if I could.

No - just seat allocation 72 hours prior to flight take-off

Premium seats can still be "picked" 60 days prior to your flight, albeit i wouldn't be surprised if this gets chopped back to 72 hours.

We're out again in early March with our daughter & husband... so that'll be 200 quid to guarantee that we all sit together.
As our daughter says, that's an awful of outlet shopping

I think I could put up with sitting on my own for that amount of shopping!

Premium seats can be picked in advance of 60 days now. Today I picked my seats for a flight to Las Vegas next June.

For anyone booking Premium Economy (or Upper), you can select seats 336 days in advance with no charge.

    Hi

Thanks for this info. I did not know seat booking so far in advance was now available. I have just booked our seats for May 2015.
