    Tarpon Fishing.

OMG! I'm in love with Tarpon Fishing.

Met a great Guy in a Boca Grande Restaurant, and he took me out Tarpon Fishing the next day. He'd hired a boat with "Cap'n Waylen" (No seriously) and let me go along with him.

The area off the foot of Gasprilla Island is where they hold the World Tarpon Fishing Championships.

These suckers are absolutely huge, approaching 200lbs. Hooked into two, but one got off without me seeing it and the other got eaten by a Bull shark. MY friend also hooked into one but lost it right at the boatside. What a rush. Here's a picture of my new Pal Jim playing his Tarpon.

State laws prevent Tarpon being landed into a boat (without a licence specifically to do so) and only single hooks are permitted. Fish must be released from the side of the boat which I was really pleased about.

Gasparilla Island and the Boca Grande pass are renowned for Tarpon fishing.
Glad you enjoyed it, it is a beautiful part of Florida.
We do not fish but always take a boat out.
