Dad’s Taxi’s Smallest Passenger Heads for Hollywood Studios – Part 5

Wednesday morning brings much better weather, which is a relief. We intend to stay late at Hollywood Studios tonight to watch the Fantasmic Show, so it’s an easy start to the day , with a leisurely breakfast at Sizzlers on the 192, somewhere we haven’t tried before but it gets a unanimous thumbs up, apart from the doughnuts which are dry. The pancakes are lovely though.

A short drive takes us to the Hollywood Studios car park where we hand over another $17 and catch the tram to the entrance. Most of us are seasoned visitors to Hollywood Studios and know the shows very well, but we have our favourites and so off we go. Josh and I head straight to Indiana Jones whilst everyone else goes to watch The Voyage of the Little Mermaid. Josh hasn’t seen the Indiana Jones show before so I don’t spoil the plot, or the gags. It’s so well done, and I love the bang at the end.

We’ve got the hang of the fast pass plus system now, and have secured our fast passes for today on-line last night, as well as planning our next three visits to the Disney parks. Kayleigh and Miley-Rose both love the Disney Junior channel at home, so the Disney Junior show is a must and this is our first fast-pass for today. We reconvene outside the show and in we go. If you haven’t been into this show, be warned that EVERYONE has to sit on the floor. For those of us with creaky knees it is less than comfortable, and I spent the whole show trying not to seize up! Once the show starts it becomes more obvious why we are sat on the floor – it is so that we can’t see how the show works, which is one human interacting with a load of puppets who are operated from various trap doors set in the stage (I go to sneak a peek after the show and we’re back on our feet). The show is delightful and features lots of the popular characters and songs from Disney Junior, and the kids sing along word perfect.

I may have been uncomfortable in there but it was lovely to see the little kids having such a great time.

Beauty and the Beast Live on Stage is next, and whilst the older kids use another fast-pass on Tower of Terror the more timid of us get some decent seats in the theatre and spread out a bit along the row to accommodate our late-comers. They make it just in time for the show, and Josh is looking a bit green around the gills! I love this show, and it’s just as good as I remember

When the show is over I calculate that, if they run, three of the brave kids can have a second go on Tower of Terror using the unused fast-passes of us wimps. There are only two takers, Lydia and Georgia, but they shoot off and manage to get there in time. They meet up with the rest of us in the little shaded courtyard cafe, Fairfax Fare, opposite the Beauty and the Beast theatre, where we have a snack and a nice cold drink.

Then the big kids use our third fast-pass on Rock ‘n’ Rollercoaster whilst Mrs Dad’s Taxi and I take the two small ones around the shops looking for some nice things to buy as souvenirs. I choose a t-shirt with the Disney monorail on, and we search without any success for a princess dress from the new film Frozen. The Rock ‘n’ Roller gang are back with us very quickly so I suggest they go around again using our unused fastpasses, but there are no takers this time to my surprise.

Next stop – Muppet Vision 3D. I love this show, and was really pleased to see that the pre-show entertainment in the holding area has been updated so there are some new jokes in there. The actual show seemed the same though, but it’s still brilliant. From here we head over to the Honey I Shrunk The Kids play area, where Miley-Rose and I keep an eye on Georgia and Kayleigh whilst they charge around, and everyone else goes to sit in the shade at the cafe outside, or so they said. I grab a picture of the ant, knowing that somewhere at home will be a similar picture with the older kids on, and I’ll dig it out when we get home to amuse Kayleigh, who is happy to pose for yet another photo:

The girls are insistent that they’re quite happy on their own in the play area, so Miley-Rose and I go back to the cafe area to find: no-one! Goodness knows how so many people can vanish, but there must be a better offer around somewhere. So Miley-Rose and I sit in the shade and wait for the girls, and conscious of the lack of any photographic evidence that I’m actually on this holiday we take tentative first steps as Selfie-Takers:

And trust me, this was the BEST one, imagine how bad the others were!

Eventually the girls are tired enough to give up, so they come out and find me, and then they spot where everyone else is sat, in a sunnier spot that I’d not noticed. Pizza Planet for tea, and we try not to compare prices to Papa John’s, but it really is ridiculously expensive for the size of the portions.

I’ve one more photo I want to include in today so please excuse the extension into another post........

    Dave.

From Pizza Planet we work our way over to the Fantasmic Theatre, passing the back of the Muppets theatre on the way, where I think a better photo of me is a possibility. I’ve even chosen the right t-shirt today:

Then off we trek to get seats at the Fantasmic show, where we join thousands of others. We find ourselves on the third row and are surprised at the invasion of midges, we’ve not encountered this before here. There are clouds of them all over the first few rows, the rows nearest to the water of course. To my amazement none of the girls freak out and manage to ignore them. We endure the painful warm-up “entertainment” from the two shouting youths, enjoy the mass Mexican Wave and finally, just after it goes dark, the show starts and it is just as awesome as we remember.

And that’s another day of the holiday sped by. And I’m getting awfully behind with my reports! I’ll try to catch up but we’re keeping rather busy.
    Dave.

Dave, I know that you have already been to the Florida Mall but we got Frozen Princess dresses from JC Penny's last November, even before the film was shown in the UK.

Love the trip reports and the photos, I know how difficult it is to keep up, but thanks for trying.

Great report, pleased to see that you have made the pics and we don't have to think the wife and kids are with Mr Invisible
