Manchester to Orlando with Aer Lingus

I was wondering about check in at Manchester, as the flight to Dublin is short haul but the overall trip is long haul. will check in at Manchester be 2.5 or 3.5 hours. probably obvious I know, just want to make sure.

How simple are the directions when getting off the plane to go to US immigration in Dublin?

I know it's been said that my bags are checked through from Manchester to Orlando but people I work with insist I will have to collect and re check in Dublin.

    Hi Vickk

Your Flight from Manchester is shorthaul .... So split the difference ( play safe ) and allow 3 hours

You land and then head for Transfer Connections about 5 to 10. min walk ...... with Hand Luggage

When you are in Transfer Area ... if you have time .... go to Duty Free section .

Then GO to USA Immigration Line .... Down Stairs ... AND FILL IN ... WHITE CUSTOMS FORM ....

This is then Checked . & you are DIRECTED to Immigration Line.

When Called ..... Your " Case " which you Checked " ALL THE WAY to Orlando " in at Manchester ( Luggage Tag should be on your Boarding Card )

WILL be Displayed on Screen for your Identification ...... Then hopefully Immigration is completed ...

SO In Manchester Aer Lingus Check In Desk ...PROVIDED YOUR CASE is LABELED " FROM MANCHESTER TO ORLANDO " you will

NEXT see it in Orlando. ( BUT IMAGE of it Should be Displayed on Screen at USA Immigration desk in Dublin )

Just in case you have no time for Duty Free ( or a cup of tea ) in Transfer area There is Duty Free & small cafe near Departure Gate .

Many thanks for all the replies. Cork, when you say that there is a small cafe near the departure gate does that mean most of the food choices are before immigration?

I assume the currency required in the cafes will be Euros ?

    Hi Vickk,

When you arrive in Dublin you have about a 10 min. walk to the Transfer Area. . At this point you are already through Irish Security & Passport control.

You then in all departure area where there are restaurants ( this is where you have your Full Irish Breakfast ) & Shops & Duty Free ....for NON European Destinations. .. Then you proceed to

the USA pre clearance , Customs , ( you are given white /blue form ) & Immigration ... your case will be displayed on screen .... for your identification.

& then you are through to another security check & on to Departure gate area ......passing a small snack place . ( Hot toasted sandwich & coffee )

    sandwitches & buns. Crisps etc.

There is a small duty free section as well ..... just in case you forgot The Baileys ( 2 by 2 lt ) or Jameson ( 1 lt )

Yes there are small shops near each departure gate but as cork said the main departure area with the main eateries is just past the Irish Security & Passport control so you have to go through here. I've never tried using anything other than Euros so I would just play safe and bring some Euros with you!

24 days and I'll be doing the same route DUB->PHL->MCO

Thanks for that. 36 days for me. I think I have 4 hours in Dublin so plenty time to eat but will probably have taken breakfast in manchester so might go straight through US immigration and security to get that bit out of the way.

Another Aer Lingus question (if you don't mind).
7 kg hand luggage for internal flights & 10 kg hand luggage limit for international flights, can we use 10 kg allowance for Gatwick to Dublin flight as it's part of our main international journey ?

    cheers
    Tony

If you are on an Aer Lingus flight from UK or Mainland Europe And landing in Dublin & connecting to USA

WITHOUT leaving Dublin Airport Terminal Then your Hold Luggage of 23 Kgs will be be tagged for Final Destination

This leaves your hands Free to carry 10 Kgs of " Hand Luggage " & Computer Bag .

The Trick is to have very little in your Hand Luggage case ...... just a book & Camera & then Place your Computer & Computer bag into this

Then buy Duty Free in Dublin >>>> As you are allowed to do as you are going going outside of EU .... So one hand holds Duty Free

    & the other Hand luggage
