You can pre-book the RFID wristbands before you travel (if you're staying at a Disney resort) and they'll either send you the bands of have them ready for collection when you arrive. They are done in the style of The Incredibles with each guest's name on them.

You'll soon be able to buy charms and covers for them to pimp them up as you'd like.

    They look good!

So I guess they are going the way of Universal with payment for Fastpass then? Shame because that has always been one thing I have disliked and it isn't even a standar flat rate it varies depending on how busy the park is expected to be.

"Turnstiles are being replaced with “touch points.” When Walt Disney World Resort rolls-out MyMagic+ later this year, guests will be able to enter the parks with the touch of a wireless wristband". I thought it was a fastpass option, is it only for resort guests ?

It will be the replacement for FastPass eventually, although it has a number of additional uses such as park entry, payments, room keys etc.

As the trial is being run using the bands as room keys, it's only really being used by Disney's resident guests, although I understand certain day guests are being asked to take part in the trial now.

The idea is that each guest will have a limited number of FastPass bookings they can make well in advance of their arrival, so they're assured to be able to ride the attractions they want. There are rumours that guests staying on Disney property will have access to more FP slots, with more going to guests in a Deluxe resort than those in a moderate resort etc, but this is not confirmed yet.
