Aer Lingus Flights Gatwick to Orlando

Have any of you used aer lingus to fly from gatwick to orlando. This is our first time and not sure I have made a good choice. Was unable to book my seats even though it says I can do it online. I managed to ring and be told that although I had requested window seats, we have all been given seats in the central aisle. The representative wasnt very helpful when i called but did book me window seats(albeit all over the wing), for our return flight.
He also said I wouldnt be able to book in online although the website says I can. His reason for this was because we stop at dublin on route.Can only do boarding at gatwick 2 hours before we fly. I have always used twilight booking or online booking for boarding passes, feeling very worried.

I booked direct through aer lingus because the site said this was the only way you could use their online booking service and yet although it says I can choose seats, it never let me and I get a message to ring .

Am I right in thinking that it isn't the same aircraft from Dublin to Orlando so it isn't so much a 'stop' as a connection? If so, maybe that's the problem.

It is an indirect yes, 2 hour layover on way out and 4 hours on return. We have done flights with connections for the past 5 years without any problems.

You will change aircraft in Dublin and also clear immigration.
