Here is the link to our GPS rental info Here is the link to our sat nav rental page http://uscarhire.com/sat-nav.aspx. £70 a week sounds like the unit is provided by the rental company.

    Hi,

If you have an iPone or an Android Smartphone ...

have a look at Co-Pilot USA Premium on the App'stores or the Android store

Cost is $30 for the complete USA maps and unlimited updates ....

and ice on the cake it works great

When we rented a sat nav from here it came pre loaded with our destination address so all we had to do was switch it on and go whereas if you buy one from Walmart you have to get there first and if you hire one when you pick up the car at the airport you waste time keying in the address (I know it does not take long but when all you want to do is get to the final destination after a long flight and getting out of an airport any time saved is a bonus).

If you have an android or iphone that you can use in the US, check out the Waze app, www.waze.com. It's free, has been spot on every time, and will alert you to upcoming congestion and automatically recommend alternate routes to get around said congestion.

Careful with using the traffic features abroad - they usually require a data connection which can cost a fortune.

The workaround is to either have a USA SIM card for your phone, or a MiFi device which takes a USA SIM card and broadcasts its signal over Wifi.

That one looks good- as its an off line map... so I guess I am not going to have to have data connection to use it - ie no charges !!!

    Indeed,
you pay the application and maps ... +/- 30$ ... and there you go... no other costs
Maps are uptodate and program is very fast, accurate and offers all options like TomTom and C°

Why would you need another device in your pocket when you can use your iPhone or Smartphone ???

We use Co-Pilote Europe here and USA version when in Florida ... it works fantastic...!
