Part of the reason we like BA as the hand luggage allowance is up to 23kg so long as you can lift the case, wich is a more generous size, than Virgin's into the overhead. We don't have hold luggage so we can make a quick get a way once we get through immigration. Luckily we were through Tampa and in our car in under an hour on Saturday much better than the 90 minutes we spent in a queue in Orlando last December.

My niece joined us for the first part of our Feb/Mar trip this year. She flew economy and purchased an extra bag on-line for £32?. She does a lot of craft work so both bags were full with material and wool etc, plus parts her husband had ordered for his american car. Only small parts but heavy so it was definately those which made them go over the weight!
We took her to Down Town Disney to check in, we knew the bags were heavy and it was worth the extra charge she had to pay as we were able to take out anything over the weight limit. Don't know if the same applies at airport but the cases were allowed to be 2kg over. We'd packed all the the material and bath towels etc in space bags, on the top we had a couple which were 1 and 2 kgs so it was easy for us to identify which ones to take out to keep it to 25kg.

We always take enough clothes for 3/4 days as we rent a villa. I've given this advice to loads of people and most ignore it as they don't want to spend their holidays washing. But it's so easy as most days you're up early due to the time difference, washing can be put on and tumble dried in the evening when you return. The machines have dials for small loads so it's not a problem.
By following this advice you have plenty of room to take back anything you want.
This year I bought the under bed storage space bags, put his and my clothes in one each. Both went into a holdall I bought in 192 flea market for $10 and weight was under 23kgs. Sometimes it's the cases that unnecessarily add to the weight.

Oh and the friends always tell me they wish they'd listened to my advice as most of the clothes they took came back unworn. The ones they did wear came back clean so they had minimal washing to came back to!
