Hi does anyone know if colour phot copies of passport will be accepted as proof of ID so we don't have to carry passports around with us many thanks ColinColin

UK Driving Licence - photo variety - is accepted by retailers.

I use photo copy of passport - Don't have a photo variety of the driving licence. Once Walmart insisted I show a driving licence as ID rather than a passport, don't know why as I told them it didn't have a picture on it.

I didn't realise photocopied passports would be accepted - will be doing this next visit as we're always wary of carrying passports with us.

Daughter tried using British Photo Driving Licence in Epcot (English pub) to buy alcoholic drink and was refused. They would only accept a passport!!

that is because you can buy very convincing forgeries online for £20.

I have sometimes been asked for I D when paying by credit card in Walmart ect. so I will try the passport photocopy ( I don't have the photo style driving licence - too old !) as it is a lot less bulky to carry around all the time than a passport apart from the worry about losing a passport.

I have used a photocopy of my passport (I laminated it) and over the past 10 years of visiting florida at least twice a year i have never had it refused as ID.
I dont have a photo driving licence.
