    Fill to the brim

Would filling up the car to the brim & then driving 30 miles to the airport be considered returning the car full if the fuel gauge was indicating full on return, just wondering or do you prefer to refuel closer to the airport? The car is supposed to do 27mpg

They used to say you had to show a receipt for refuelling less than 11 miles from the airport but there is nothing to say youu can't fill it close tohome and then top up at the the nearest gas station to the airport. sometimes they are dearer you might save by filling upelsewhere.

On our last trip we filled up at one of the cheaper garages some way out from the airport then used the garage on Boggy Creek Road which is not that far from the airport to top the tank off before handing it back in. Had thought we might be asked for a receipt so had kept them available but nobody asked so they stayed in the pocket.

We filled up on 192 and then straight on 417 to Airport and it was still showing full...checked by agent and all was ok.

Presumably the hire company do not re-fill the tank if it is handed in showing full - even if it was filled then driven 30 miles. The next customer would be over 1 gallon short if they pre-pay for the fuel, or have the gold package which includes the tank of fuel.

We always fill up RIGHT TO THE VERY TOP of the tank at Southern Dunes, & then drive at a nice steady speed to the airport. Gauge still shows full & never had any problems.

We also fill up before we drive to the airport. We fill up at the 7-11 on the 192 up by Formosia Gardens Blvd. The gauge still shows full when we arrive. We have done this at least 15 times now with no problem. We don't do this to save money, it is more so that we don't have to stop on the way to the airport as our flights usually leave around 6:30 in the morning which means leaving the house around 4:00 am to make the two hour check in deadline that we need when coming back to Canada.
