Hi
I was only thinking about day trips or in state
I have been to a few other U.S. states in my quest
for all things historical or is that hysterical

St Augustine's great isn't it and well worth the travel time?
Well, you could try Kissimmee Old Town (not the one with the bungee, the one under the archway) as there are lots of historical buildings there and also loads of antique shops. It's just as you imagine 'old time' American to be.
Remember that America is quite 'young' by European standards so history isn't going to be quite as extensive there as it is in Europe.
Try this for some info about other places http://www.floridahistory.org/events/museum.htm

St Augustine was the first town built in Florida if I remember rightly-so you've probably hit the jackpot straight away already.
Mt Dora is an interesting place. Has a beautiful old house now a masonic temple.
There's another place that escapes me just near Tarpon Springs. When I remeber it-I'll post it. We headed for there but just didn't have the time as we wanted to see Tarpon. Tarpon Springs has a lovely greek community -again if you wanted to visit something about different.

Thanksfor the advice Blott & Orlandobabe
that`s two new ideas can`t wait until October.

Just found the name of the other place-Dunedin. Like I said I haven't been but my friend in Indian Rocks assures me it's like a mini Mt Dora with lots of little curiosity shops etc.

I can recommend Winter Park with a tour on the lake followed by a visit to the Morse Museum, where they house the most amazing collection of Tiffany glass, all collected from Laurenston Hall.
This ia a great day out. As cultural and historical as you would expect to find in Orlando.
Also from Dunedin you get access to Honeymoon island state park![msncool]quote:Originally posted by orlandobabe
